Henderson learned to play against boys and male relatives as a child, and later at the YMCA. Since fifth grade, she has been a member of Florida Future, a Fort Myers-based Amateur Athletic Union team. Henderson was a member of the Fort Myers Senior High School football team. She was named to the Class 7A All-State Second Team in her rookie season.
Henderson was nominated to the US team for the 2016 FIBA Under-17 World Championship for Women, which will be held in Spain. In a 79–62 triumph over Brazil in the Round of 16 on June 27, 2016, she had 15 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. Henderson led her team to a bronze medal by averaging 7.1 points, five assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game in seven games. She will compete for the senior national team at the FIBA AmeriCup in Puerto Rico in 2021. Henderson won a gold medal with an average of 5.5 points and 3.7 assists per game.
