Raidió Teilifs Éireann (RTÉ), a public service broadcaster, has disclosed its top ten earners from 2017 to 2019, as well as their overall earnings for each year. As the current host of the long-running television chat show The Late Late Show and a weekday morning radio show The Ryan Tubridy Show, presenter Ryan Tubridy was the top earner for all three years.
Tuttle Productions Ltd, Mr Tubridy’s producing company, earned €495,000 in 2019. Mr Tubridy’s profits are fees paid excluding Value Added Tax (VAT), and he does not get a salary or pension contribution because he is a contractor for the broadcaster rather than an employee.

Laois’ Sean O’Rourke and Claire Byrne are among the top 10. Seventh from 2017 to 2019 was journalist Claire Byrne, host of a daily radio show and current affairs television program on Monday nights. Her company Derrough Media took in earnings of €250,000 in 2019.
Other top earners of the broadcaster from 2017 to 2019 include sports commentator George Hamilton, presenter Brendan O’Connor, newscaster Bryan Dobson and radio presenter Mary Wilson. Claire Byrne remained in 7th place earning €250,00 in 2019 – the same salary she took home in 2018.

In 2018, Ryan Tubridy won €495,000, with Ray D’Arcy coming in second with €450,000. Joe Duffy was third with €404,988, and Marian Finucane was fourth with €333,013. Sean O’Rourke came in fifth place with €325,263, followed by Miriam O’Callaghan with €322,667 and Claire Byrne with €250,000.

Miriam O’Callaghan finished sixth with €320,000 in profits, followed by Claire Byrne with €250,000, Brendan O’Connor with €220,000, Bryan Dobson with €209,282, and Mary Wilson with €196,961.
